As part of the Duterte Administration’s thrust to provide quality and accessible healthcare services for Filipinos, a Presidential Directive No. 2016-0186 on the revival of the “Botika Ng Bayan (BNB)” was given order in August 2016. A program which aims to ensure access to safe, effective and quality medicines to patients prioritizing the marginalized, underserved population, vulnerable populations (PWD, elderlies, children), uniformed personnel and their dependents; to reduce out-of-pocket expenses by providing free essential
medicines to health facilities specially to unserved population; to establish partnerships with Local ChiefExecutives (LCE), Medical Center Chief of Uniformed Personnel, Hospitals and other government agencies in implementing the F1+ BNB and F1+ BNBi program; to ensure improvement of Good Distribution and Storage Practices (GDSP) and pharmacy management in common medicines intended for beneficiaries; and, to ensure that facilities provide good pharmacy services such as patient medicine reconciliation, drug therapy review, patient profiling and patient counselling.
Pursuant to this, the Department of Health - Center for Health Development SOCCSKSARGEN Region in coordination of the National Drug Policy Program (NDPP), launched the first Fourmula One Plus Botika ng Bayan (F1+ Botika Ng Bayan) at the Municipality of Senator Ninoy Aquino Rural Health Unit, Province of Sultan Kudarat last September 02, 2019. Through the favorable response of the Municipal Mayor - Hon. Randy L. Ecija and the Municipal Health Officer - Dr. Marie Cris S. Idio-Malaga, the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was successfully completed in the presence of the National Drug Policy Program Officer (NDPCO) – Mr. Earl A. Granado, Development Management Officer (DMO) - Engr. Eusebio D. Espinosa Jr., Health Education Promotion Officer (HEPO)/Designate – Ms. Henrietta Helena M. Casan, and the Senior Health Program Officer (SHPO) – Ms. Ma. Demetria A. Glemao and other CHD Staff. Also, Ms. Jehan D. Suleik, RPh - Pharmacist Deployment Program (PDP) facilitated the completion of the necessary requirements for the approval of the License to Operate (LTO) of the F1+ BNB.
There are still five (5) healthcare facilities scheduled for launching in September 2019; at RHU Tupi on 17th day, RHU Magpet on 24th day, RHU Columbio on 25th day, RHU Isulan on 26th day, and RHU Tangtangan on 27th day. The other healthcare facilities in the region are still on-process for the licensing of their Pharmacy by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
