A Grand Kick-off celebrating Family Planning Month was conducted last August 4-5, 2014 at Robinsons Mall, General Santos City with the theme "Ang Planadong Buhay ay Maayos na Buhay." It was attended by 160 participants particularly mothers, fathers, teens, and lactating mothers. The celebration was highlighted by the inspirational message of the Regional Director Teogenes F. Baluma, MD, CESO III of the Department of Health Regional Office No. XII. He stressed the need to practice birth spacing for couples to achieve the desired family size. Officer oriented us on the importance of partnerships among health sectors to reach more couples to practice family planning method correctly. Dr. Fatima A. Emban, Head of Family Health Cluster emphasized the importance of a well-planned family.

The Department of Health in partnership with the City Health Office, General Santos City led the celebration with the support from the Mindanao Health, Family Planning Organizational Program, Private Lying-in's, Alcantara Foundation and other government sectors/ non-government organizations.
