tsekap skLast May 31, 2016, the Department of Health, Regional Office XII had a Ceremonial Turn-Over of Tsekap Equipment Package for the Province of Sultan Kudarat at Antonia’s Resto and Grill at Isulan, Sultan Kudarat.  The activity was participated by Local Government Unit health workers such as the Municipal Health Officers, Public Health Nurses, Barangay Health Workers, Rural Health Midwives and our partner agency, Philhealth.   Tsekap Equipment Package contains Digital BP apparatus, Non-contact Thermometer, Glucometer, Nebulizer and Dressing Kit.

The ceremonial turn-over was welcomed by the Officer in-Charge, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Consolacion Lagamayo.  Dr. Kris Icyn Nuñez, a representative from the DOH, Central Office, was also present during the turn-over ceremony.  In behalf of Director Francisco V. Mateo, the message was delivered by Dr. Imelda K. Quiñones, Medical Officer III of the DOH RO XII.

Pupils of Rojas Central Elementary School converged at the designated evacuation siteThe Department of Health Regional Office XII through the Health Emergency Management Staff (HEMS) together with the Cotabato City Health Office joined the Rojas Central Elementary School in the conduct of 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Shake Drill on the 22nd Day of June 2016. Parents, teachers and pupils of Rojas Central Elementary School were evaluated by the different stakeholders invited to observe during the drill namely; the Bureau of Fire (BFP) Cotabato City Sub-Station, Philippine National Police-Cotabato City, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), City Health Office together with the Department of Health RO XII, and Department of Education.

red orchid awards 2016It does not take POWER but M-POWER to be a Red Orchid Awardee. I guess that would be more difficult, because it does not take the power of one man or woman to enforce tobacco control, but rather it takes the whole community or even the whole nation to be empowered to end the production, use and abuse of all forms of tobacco.
MPOWER is a policy package ratified by the World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control intended to assist in the country-level implementation of effective interventions to reduce the demand for tobacco. MPOWER stand s for its six components, namely: monitor tobacco use and prevention policies; protect people from tobacco smoke; offer help to quit tobacco use; warn about the dangers of tobacco; enforce bans on tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship; raise taxes on tobacco.

AIDS candlelight memorial 2016The Department of Health Regional Office XII commemorated the AIDS Candlelight Memorial Day in collaboration with advocacy partners last May 16, 2016 at 4:00 in the afternoon at DOH-ROXII.The celebration started with the lighting of the red candle followed with a prayer dedicated to those who died and victims of HIV & AIDS. The health sector led by Department of Health encouraged everyone to help in promoting awareness on controlling the spread of the disease such as giving importance on practicing safe sex and submitting to HIV testing.

The highlight of this year’s event is the launching of the Philippine AIDS Hour  where the public is encouraged to light a candle from six to seven in the evening as a symbol of hope in the quest for solutions to the challenge posed by HIV and AIDS to humanity.
