The DOH - Center for Health Development SOCCSKSARGEN region conducted a Mother-Baby Friendly Health Facility Initiative (MBFHFI) Final Assessment for the hospitals and birthing facilities catering maternal and child services in Sultan Kudarat Province last March 7-10, 2023.

This activity is covered by the Republic Act No. 7600, also known as the Rooming-In and Breastfeeding Act of 1992, and Executive Order No. 51, also known as "The National Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes, Breastmilk Supplements, and Related Products", and the Department Memorandum No. 0111 series of 2022 of the Department of Health.

The goal of the MBFHFI is to ensure compassionate maternal services and encourage optimal breastfeeding practices through exclusive and early initiated breastfeeding, which has been proven to protect infants against different infectious and chronic diseases.

The DOH - Center for Health Development SOCCSKSARGEN region conducted an Orientation on Policy Imperatives on Gender and Development for DOH Personnel on March 2-3, 2023 at Paraiso Verde, Koronadal City, particularly the members of the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS), as part of the activities in support to women's month celebration.

The activity started with an opening message from the GAD Focal Person, Mr. Godwin Lord Y. Gallo, RN, MPh. He stated that "as the 10th agency to be awarded with the GAD seal we should walk the talk and continue to enhance the implementation of gender and development in the office".

The resource speaker, Ms. Mary Joy M. Chiu, RN, MPh, discussed GAD-related mandates that are imperative and essential in fully understanding the basis and history of the Gender and Development Approach in the country which enables the participants to align gender-related national laws and international conventions to pursue gender equality and make it a fundamental value in development choices and institutional practice.

The activity ended with the closing message from Dr. Melva A. Magana, RN, GFPS member. She remarked that as part of the ways forward, the office will be conducting orientation on GMEF to GFPS members and orientation to all of the staff including the contract of service on gender and development.
