In celebration of Safe Motherhood Week this May 8-12, 2023, the DOH CHD SOCCSKSARGEN Region went to the Municipality of Libungan on May 9, 2023, this is in partnership with IPHO Cotabato Province and MHO Libungan. Also in attendance were invited pregnant mothers together with their husbands. This activity aims to emphasize safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery, that is why the husbands' presence is essential as they played a crucial role in responsible parenthood. Pregnant mothers were given free HIV and STI testing as a requirement in their prenatal check-up . They also received Buntis Kit in courtesy of DOH CHD SOCCSKSARGEN Region and LGU of Libungan.
Meanwhile, the MR-OPV SIA Kick-off is simultaneously conducted, which is a nationwide campaign for protecting our children from vaccine preventable diseases, such as Measles Rubella and Polio. In support of these activities, the LGU officials were present and shared their insights and personal experiences to the participants.

DOH COM, WHO COLLABORATE TO STRENGTHEN RISK, CRISIS COMMUNICATIONS, INFODEMIC MANAGEMENT; USHER COMMUNICATION REFORMS TO TRANSLATE COVID-19 WINS INTO UHC WINS
The Department of Health (DOH), through the Communication Office, and the World Health Organization (WHO), on May 2-6, 2023 led the conduct of the Crisis Communication and Infodemic Management workshop held in Davao City. The workshop was participated by several Regional Directors, Assistant Regional Directors, and Communication Office personnel from the different Centers for Health Development (CHDs).
WHO Representative to the Philippines Dr. Rui, Paulo De Jesus, WHO-Headquarters Team Lead for Infodemic Management Tina Purnat, WHO WPRO Technical Officer on Risk Communication Lieke Visser, Head of Delegation to the European Union Delegation to the Philippines Ambassador Luc Veron, WHO WPRO Regional Communications Manager Olivia Lawe-Davies, and other representatives from the WHO were part of the event.
Carrying the theme “Translating COVID-19 wins into UHC wins”, the workshop brought together experts in crisis communication and infodemic management to discuss effective strategies and best practices in dealing with crises, and consequently, preventing the spread of disinformation and misinformation in the country. The activity also included a workshop on the writing of the Omnibus Guidelines for Risk and Crisis Communication and Community Engagement for all Health Hazards.
“We have come a long way in our COVID-19 response, particularly in the aspect of communications. Now, it is the most opportune time for us to utilize our COVID-19 wins to catapult Universal Health Care.
The DOH is truly grateful to all developmental partners, especially the World Health Organization, and all our counterparts in the different regions, for the continued commitment to strengthen all our communication initiatives on the ground. Let us continue to bridge the gap, connect with the community, and reach every Juan and Juana. With a holistic approach, we can surely transform our COVID-19 wins into UHC wins.”, said DOH Officer-in-Charge Chief of Communication Office Mr. Jason R. Roque.
In her recorded message, DOH Officer-in-Charge Dr. Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire recognized the significant contributions that communicators make to fully realize UHC for every Filipino, and underscored the significance of a responsive communication approach in addressing any kinds of health crisis.
"May we continue honing ourselves for the betterment of our service delivery to every Filipino, and may we never falter from seeking advancement and improvement towards the better realization of Universal Health Care for a Healthy Pilipinas!", expressed OIC Vergeire.
